Frequently asked questions about web design, SEO, and website management

General / Working With Us

  • What types of businesses do you work with?

We work with established service businesses across Melbourne. Accountants, law firms, medical practices, trades, and similar. If your business has been running for a few years and your website hasn't kept up, we're a good fit.

  • Where are you based and who do you serve?

Troov Marketing is a Melbourne-based web design agency working with small and medium businesses across Australia. Most of our clients are in Victoria, but we work with businesses anywhere in the country (and occasionally internationally for established referrals).

  • What makes Troov different from other web design agencies?

We don't just build websites and walk away. Every site we build is designed to be managed, optimised, and grown over time, which is why most of our clients move onto an ongoing retainer after launch. We're the agency that stays.

  • Do I need to sign a long-term contract?

No. Our website builds are project-based, and our retainers are month-to-month with no lock-in. We'd rather earn your business each month than trap you in a contract.

  • Do I need to sign a long-term contract?

Website builds are a one-off project fee. Ongoing management runs month to month. We keep clients because the work is good, not because of a lock-in contract.

  • How do I get started?

The easiest way is to book a free strategy call through the website. We'll talk through your business, your goals, and whether we're the right fit, with no pressure either way.

Web Design & Development

  • How much does a website cost in Melbourne?

We work with established service businesses across Melbourne. Accountants, law firms, medical practices, trades, and similar. If your business has been running for a few years and your website hasn't kept up, we're a good fit.

  • How long does a website take to build?

A typical small business website takes four to eight weeks from kickoff to launch. More complex builds with custom features, integrations, or larger content requirements can take longer. We'll give you a clear timeline before we start.

  • What's the difference between a template and a custom website?

A template website uses a pre-made design with your content dropped in, which is fast and affordable but limited in flexibility. A custom website is designed around your specific business, customers, and goals, with better SEO, performance, and long-term value. We build custom websites that don't look like everyone else's.

  • Will my website be mobile-friendly and SEO-ready?

Yes. Every website we build is fully responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop, and includes on-page SEO fundamentals like meta titles, descriptions, schema markup, and clean site structure. Mobile-first design and SEO aren't add-ons, they're standard.

  • What if I already have a website?

That's often where we add the most value. We can audit your existing site, identify what's working and what isn't, and either rebuild it or take over ongoing management to make it perform better.

  • Do you offer hosting?

Yes. Hosting is included in our website builds and ongoing retainers, so you don't have to think about it. Your site stays fast, secure, and online without the technical overhead.

Ongoing Website Management

  • What's included in ongoing website management?

Our Online Presence Retainer covers website updates, content edits, SEO blog posts, performance monitoring, hosting, security, and monthly reporting. It's everything needed to keep your website actively working for your business, not just sitting there.

  • Why do I need ongoing management if my website is already built?

Websites aren't a one-time project. Google's algorithm changes, your services evolve, competitors update their sites, and customer behaviour shifts. Without regular updates, content, and optimisation, even a great website loses visibility and leads over time.

  • Can I cancel the retainer at any time?

Yes. All our retainers are month-to-month with no lock-in contracts. We focus on delivering results each month so you stay because you want to, not because you have to.

  • Do you manage websites you didn't build?

In most cases, yes. We can take over management of an existing website as long as we have proper access and the platform is reasonable to work with. We'll audit your current setup first to make sure it's worth managing or whether a rebuild makes more sense.

  • How often will my website be updated?

Updates happen continuously based on what your business needs. Most retainer clients get fresh blog content, photo updates, copy refinements, and SEO improvements every month, plus reactive updates whenever something changes in the business.

SEO & Content

  • Do you offer SEO services?

Yes. SEO is built into every website we design and is a core part of our ongoing retainer service. We focus on local SEO, on-page optimisation, technical SEO, and content-led ranking strategies for small and medium businesses.

  • How long does SEO take to show results?

Most businesses see meaningful SEO improvements within three to six months, with stronger results building over six to twelve months. SEO is a long game, but the businesses that commit to it consistently outrank competitors who chase quick wins.

  • What is local SEO and do I need it?

Local SEO helps your business rank for location-based searches like "accountant near me" or "Melbourne plumber." If you serve customers in a specific area, local SEO is one of the highest-return marketing activities you can invest in.

  • Do you write blog content for my website?

Yes. Most retainer clients get monthly SEO blog posts written specifically for their business, target keywords, and customer questions. Good blog content is one of the most reliable ways to grow organic traffic over time.

  • Will my website rank on Google?

A well-built website with proper SEO foundations can rank for relevant keywords within a few months, especially for local searches. We don't promise specific rankings, because no honest agency can, but we do build websites and strategies designed to compete and win in your market.

Google Business Profile (GBP)

  • What is a Google Business Profile and why does it matter?

A Google Business Profile is the listing that appears when someone searches your business name or related local terms on Google or Google Maps. For local service businesses, GBP often drives more enquiries than the website itself, making it one of the most important assets you own.

  • Do you manage Google Business Profiles for clients?

Yes. GBP management is included in our Online Presence Retainer, covering profile optimisation, weekly posts, photo updates, review responses, and Q&A management. It's one of the highest-impact services we provide for local service businesses.

  • How do I rank higher on Google Maps?

Google Maps rankings (local pack rankings) are driven by relevance, distance, and prominence. Optimising your profile, posting regularly, collecting Google reviews, and keeping your business information consistent across the web all push your ranking higher over time.

  • Why are Google reviews so important?

Reviews are one of the strongest ranking signals for local SEO and one of the biggest trust signals for potential customers. Businesses with more recent, positive reviews consistently rank higher and convert more enquiries than competitors with fewer reviews.

  • How do I get more Google reviews?

The most reliable way is to ask happy clients directly, ideally within a day or two of completing the work. We help retainer clients set up review-request systems, including SMS and email templates, so collecting reviews becomes part of the normal workflow.

  • What should I post on my Google Business Profile?

Posts work best when they're informational rather than promotional. Service updates, project examples, helpful tips, and local content all perform well. We write and schedule GBP posts weekly for retainer clients to keep the profile active and ranking.

Pricing & Process

  • How much does ongoing management cost?

Retainers start from around five hundred dollars per month and scale based on what's included (website updates, SEO content, social media, GBP management, reporting). We tailor each retainer to your business, not a fixed package.

  • Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Website builds can be split into milestone-based payments rather than paid upfront. Retainers are billed monthly. We'll structure something that works for your cash flow.

  • What's your process from enquiry to launch?

The process is: free strategy call, proposal and quote, deposit and kickoff, design and build, review and revisions, launch, then handover or move onto retainer. Most builds take four to eight weeks from kickoff.

  • Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A 50% deposit is required to begin a website build, with the balance due at launch. This secures your spot in our project schedule and covers the upfront design work.

  • What happens after my website launches?

You have two options: take ownership of the site and manage it yourself, or move onto an Online Presence Retainer where we handle everything ongoing. Most clients choose the retainer because it's where the long-term value lives.
